چکیده

Arterial plasma renin activity in the rabbit was measured at the beginning and end of a brisk hemorrhage and 40 min later. Activity rose to a mean of two and one-half times the control value during the hemorrhage, and was five times greater than the control 40 min later. The rise in plasma renin activity was not due to anesthesia, as light pentobarbitone produced no change. Conscious rabbits, severely bled from a carotid cannula, 2 to 5 hr after an ether anesthetic, also showed an increase in plasma renin activity at the end of hemorrhage. Forty-eight hours after both kidneys had been removed, renin activity was virtually absent and did not rise after hemorrhage. ADDITIONAL

The effect of aspirin therapy on the plasma renin activity in myocardial infarction

In this study, the changes of renin system activity and the effects of aspirin therapy on the plasma renin activity ( PRA) in myocardial infarction were investigated. Fifty nine patients with myocardial infarction were selected. By suppressed in the former group which was statistically significant ( p<0.01).

Blood oxygenation during hyperpressure intraperitoneal fluid administration in a rabbit model of severe liver injury: Evaluation of a novel concept for control of pre-hospital liver bleeding

Oxygen is an essential part of the most important metabolic pathways in aerobic organisms. Oxygen delivery is merely dependent on blood, rendering blood loss a devastating event. Traumatic pre-hospital liver bleeding is a major cause of early trauma deaths in human and animals, with no established therapeutic method yet. Increasing intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) has been shown to reduce liver b...

Suppression of stimulated plasma renin by clonidine in the dog.

The mechanism by which clonidine suppresses plasma renin activity (PRA) was investigated in dogs anesthetized with pentobarbital. Injection of clonidine (1 micrograms/kg) into the cisterna magna decreased PRA from levels stimulated by prior hemorrhage into a blood reservoir to reduce mean blood pressure by 25% (21.7 ng/ml/hr +/- 6.6 SE leads to 11.1 ng/ml/hr +/- 2.4 SE; p less than 0.05). Cloni...

Effects of Low-dose Morphine on Nitric Oxide Concentration and Angiogenesis in Two-kidney One Clip Hypertensive Rats

Objective(s) We investigated the effects of low-dose morphine on nitric oxide (NO) and angiogenesis in two-kidney one clip hypertensive (2K1C) rats. Materials and Methods Male rats were divided into two groups: sham-clip operated and 2K1C. Each group subdivided into saline and morphine (3 mg/kg i.p. 8 weeks) groups. Blood pressure, heart rate, plasma renin activity (PRA), NO concentration an...

Role of angiotensin II on the adrenal and vascular responses to hemorrhage during development in fetal lambs.

Developmental aspects of fetal adrenal and vascular responses to endogenous increase in plasma angiotensin II (All) following sequential reductions of fetoplacental blood volume were studied in two groups of chronically catheterized fetal lambs (seven were <120 days and seven were >130 days of gestation, term being 145 days). At similar levels of hemorrhage, the rise in plasma renin activity (P...
